The Second Shadow

With Shared Echoes and Kindred Spirits. Fondazione ICA Milano. Curated by Rita Selvaggio, with the support of Giulia Civardi.

The Second Shadow is an exhibition conceived as a dialogue between two environmental installations articulated as rooms: Jean Cocteau (2003–2014) by Marc Camille Chaimowicz, and a new site-specific work by Dozie Kanu, developed in response and as a refractive counterpart to the historical installation. The project unfolds as a reflection on doubling, inheritance, and affective transmission, tracing a lineage that moves from Jean Cocteau to Chaimowicz and onward to Kanu. Rather than proposing a philological reconstruction, the exhibition operates as a device of resonance: two autonomous environments that observe and transform one another across time, like reflective surfaces that delay the image in order to allow thought to emerge. The project stems from a collaboration between Fondazione ICA Milano and Nicoletta Fiorucci Foundation.
